Five quick tips to get the most out of the Mono white label website platform

Each month, we send Release Notes to our partners, always including a short tutorial. Here are five highlights.

The Mono Team spends a lot of time working on our own white-label website builder (the Mono Editor). Did you know, for example, that our company website is built entirely on this platform? We do this not only because it’s the best website platform out there but also because it serves as an invaluable tool for discovering new and efficient ways to achieve things—which we can then share with you!

Here are five quick tips on how to make the most of the Mono white-label platform:

1: Applying dimension through parallax or fixed position

Parallax is a feature that makes it appear as though the foreground and background content are separated.

The sense of dimension occurs when the foreground shifts while the background either stays still or moves more slowly.

To apply this effect to your content:

  1. Hover over the row or column you want to modify
  2. Click the element button
  3. Click the edit icon.

For this example, we'll use our header row, which already has a background image and filter. In the menu overlay, under "Background," we can choose either the Parallax scrolling effect or Fixed position.

  • The Parallax effect makes the background image move at a different speed than the foreground as a visitor scrolls.
  • In contrast, the Fixed position option keeps the background image static while the rest of the page scrolls.

Give your template dimension by selecting one of these options.

If you upload or add an image as a background filter, you can also apply dimension to that.

Let's imagine there will be three speeds for a given row as the user scrolls: the foreground scrolls at a normal speed, the background image moves more slowly, and the filter image remains static.

Feel free to mix and match these effects and parameters. With background images, filters, and dimension effects, you can create eye-catching designs. Read the full article here.

2: Correctly setting the website colors for building websites at scale

When building a website, it’s important to set the brand color palette through the Global Design menu. This ensures the color palette applies consistently across the entire site, making it easier to update later if, for example, your customer changes their brand colors. If you’re building a template, the global color section is invaluable, as it lets you establish a color theme that can easily be updated when the template is reused.

  1. From the Mono Editor, open the Design menu on the left
  2. Choose Global colors
  3. Click Spot colors or any of the other color options. All of the colors are located within the same overlay, but under separate headings.
  4. Define your color palette within the overlay.

3: Building a simple Row Slider in 5 minutes

A Slider is a 'slide show' of images and text that can 'flip' from content to content.

In the Mono Editor, a Row Slider enables you to create a set of rows that visitors can flip through manually - or you can set them to transition automatically at specific intervals.

It is very fast and simple to set up a row slider in the Mono web builder. Here is how:

  1. Add a row. It can be any row design or just an empty row.
  2. Click the three dots "More" in the Row Menu, then "Add Row Slider"
  3. Now in the top center of the row, you can find a new menu called "Row Slider". Here you can edit the slider design, such as pagination arrows, slide animations and more.
  4. To add a slide, simply navigate to the Row Slider Menu in the top center, click the three dots called "More" and click blue "Add Slide" button.
  5. Each slide function is a separate row. To delete a slide, simply navigate to the slide in question and delete the row itself.

Bonus tip: For the best possible mobile performance, we advice you to turn off row sliders on mobile viewport. If you want to have a graphic element on mobile, you can replace the row slider with an image module, which is only visible on the mobile viewport.

5: Linking the company name to the homepage

On most websites, you will find the name or logo of the company in the top left or top centre of the website. Mono's white label websites are also set up this way. If setting up your own templates, or if adding the company name later, this is an important step to remember. It is best practice - and users will expect - to quickly be able to navigate back to the website's homepage by clicking the company name.

Here is how to do it in the Mono white label web builder:

  1. Double click and highlight the company name.
  2. This will prompt the text editor ribbon to pop up. In the ribbon, click the Link icon and then Link in the dropdown.
  3. In the menu that appears, we can then set the link destination to an external URL, internal URL, an email address, file, or phone number. We select internal URL here.
  4. A dropdown list of pages appears. We select Home and click Save.
Depending on how your Company name global text is set up, you can immediately see that the link has been applied.
